Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-10-12
These terms apply to every page of EquitySonar. Please read the section on investment advice (section 3) before relying on any score.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By using EquitySonar (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by EquitySonar ("we", "us").
2. What the Service is
EquitySonar is an analysis and visualisation tool. It combines market data, macro indicators, and news headlines into a 0–100 composite score and component breakdowns for each ticker. The scores are produced by fixed, published arithmetic; they are not generated by a language model.
3. Not investment, financial, tax, or legal advice
Nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security, or a suggestion that any investment strategy is suitable for you. Scores describe how a set of inputs compares with a set of thresholds. They do not predict future prices or returns.
Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of your entire investment. Past patterns do not guarantee future results. Before making a financial decision, consult a qualified professional who knows your circumstances. You are solely responsible for your investment decisions.
4. Portfolio and watchlist features
The portfolio and watchlist features track the positions and tickers you enter. They are not connected to a brokerage, do not execute trades, and do not reflect your actual holdings at any institution. Values shown may differ from your broker's records.
5. Third-party data
Market prices, economic series, and news come from third-party providers, including Yahoo Finance, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED), Finnhub, and NewsAPI. That data may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or unavailable. We do not control it and make no warranty about its accuracy or timeliness. Each provider's own terms apply to the data it supplies.
6. Accounts
You may sign in with a supported third-party account, such as Google. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe anyone's rights;
- scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract data, or automate requests in a way that places an unreasonable load on the Service or circumvents rate limits;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access non-public parts of the Service;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, its security, or other users;
- misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organisation.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, its design, code, and scoring methodology belong to us or our licensors. Third-party data remains the property of its providers. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for personal, non-commercial research.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any trading, investment, or other financial loss, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $100 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Québec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions about these Terms can be sent to [email protected].
